Parades of men.....

...tromping through the house!
Oh lucky me! Unfortunately they were all trades folks and just interested in doing a good job and getting paid....hmmmm?

In preparation for my new carpet being laid yesterday, I spent the weekend moving stuff out of the lounge. A lot of sorting out happended along the way. I also wanted to make sure any drilling for shelves, curtain rails etc was completed before the new carpet arrived. Unfortunately, I managed to drill through an electric cable in the process! Aaargh!
So, no electricity for Sunday night and Monday morning and Mr Electric arrived to provide an emergency fix and quote for the complete work while the carpet fitters were still there. needless to say, when he took a look at my antique electicals, he started wincing and quoting HSE regulations at me. Result is, that not only have I had holes gouged in the wall to replace cable, I've also had a completely new board installed. BUT! I did get the "convert old storage unit switches into sockets" bit done at the same time! Yay! So I now have electicery at the far end of the kitchen, (well, I will when he comes next Tuesday to finish - on his Easter break until then) so no more extension leads for the freezer and my new treadmill - yes, I really did buy one, will have its very own electricity supply when it arrives!
He had to check all the other electrics while he was at it, (new NIC rules apparently), and he did say the whoever had done the electric for the workshop had done a really good professional job. So that was reassuring.
The cats are a bit trauamatised with all the changing around, strange people and funny new carpet smells. But they did manage to leave me a present of a dead mouse on my brand new, less than 24 hours old carpet this morning! Thanks Kevin. The lounge looks huge now. Partly due to the fact I've removed all the clutter and partly due to the expanse of light coloured carpet with no dark rug. So the lounge is looking fab. The kitchen and the entire upstairs look like a bombsite however. I really must starting putting stuff in the loft, there's no room to move on the landing now.
AND I still need to finish putting up shelves in the lounge - just really nervous about creating havoc again.
I went into London for a meeting with a new coachee today - A Senior Civil Servant. I found the walking etc absolutely fine. I even had to walk up 7 flights in the car park at MK station and actually managed it without collapsing or even having to stop for a rest. I think this is the biggest indicator I have had of the 2 stone I've lost. There's no way I'd have been able to that a few months ago.
Tomorrow's meeting in Manchester has been postponed - yipee. So I can relax for the rest of the week. I will create a to do list though, otherwise I'll just get frustrated at all the jobs that need doing and beating myself up for doing house stuff when I should be generating more work and visa versa. I'm also way behind on my OU course too, so I need to put some time aside to do that.
Ah me, no peace for the wicked!
