Marching on..

The "To Do" list is gradually being whittled down. It's certainly keeping me active! The lounge is nearly done, just some bookshelves to go up and a curtain rail. The kitchen is nearly back to normal with one major addition......a treadmill!!! Yes! Its arrived! Thank goodness the electrician was here to help the delivery guy get it into the kitchen, there's no way I would have managed it. The box was a good 8 feet long by 4 foot wide and really heavy. I spent two days putting it together. Lets just say the instructions were not easy to follow - obviously translated from German into English by a non-fluent English speaker. The instructions told you how to put it together, and then described the various programs, But there was no instructions on actually using the thing!
I plugged it in and turned it on - power light came on and the LCD panel displayed its stuff - eureka! So far so good. The treadmill cam with a "safety key" that apparently you attach to yourself as a safety stop thing. So logic says that you should have the key in place before you can use the treadmill...doesn't it? So, there I was, all ready to go, machine powered on, I attach the safety key and "ping", the display disappears and the power light goes off. Like a fuse had gone? But the power socket also supplied the freezer, and that was still working okay. No fuse popped on the fuse box. Oh my God! I'd broken it somehow and never even used it!
So I've sent a message for help to the manufacturer/supplier and hope they can help. How frustrating. Mind you, I certainly got a load of exercsie putting the thing together, it wasn't exactly lightweight.
I also got loads of exercsie today as well. Again went into London, turned up at one office to find the meeting was actually taking place at another building, so spent 15 mins charging round Whitehall trying to find this other building. Then ran up 3 flights of stairs trying to find a ladies loo (with no success I might add) and, just to top it all, I was on the 7th floor of the car park again at Mk station. So if I haven't lost anyweight tomorrow, I'm going to be really gutted.

Saturday night is Mike's 40th birthday bash in London. I'm already having my "embarrased to be seen in public" jitters. Why is it I can meet anyone at all in a work context, but as soon as its a social setting I start getting all these "they'll be judging me" thoughts going on and want to bottle out of going. I think there's also a fear that I'll be left on my own with no-one to talk to, although I do know quite a few people who are going. Its the old, "well they'll be nice and say hello but they won't want me hanging around them all night" thing.
I thought I'd come so far in the last few years, but this is really demoralising.
